What is Resin Release Technology?
ICL’s Resin Release Technology is an advanced coating system used to produce high-performance compound NPK, NP, or K controlled-release fertilizers. With a longevity range from 1–2 months up to 16–18 months, this technology ensures that nutrients are released at the right rate to match the crop’s nutrient requirements. The result is higher nutrient use efficiency and improved productivity across a wide range of crops and growing conditions.
How Does Resin Release Technology Work?
Each fertilizer granule coated with ICL’s Resin Release Technology acts as an individual nutrient delivery system. After application, soil moisture penetrates the coating and dissolves the nutrients inside the granule. Osmotic pressure then moves the dissolved nutrients gradually through the coating and into the root zone.
The rate of release is regulated by soil temperature, which means the delivery of nutrients naturally aligns with plant demand. As soil temperatures rise and plants grow more actively, nutrients are released faster. When conditions cool, the release slows down. This precise synchronization of nutrient delivery is a key feature of ICL’s Resin Release Technology, supporting optimal nutrient uptake and balanced crop growth.
What Are the Benefits of Fertilizers with Resin Release Technology?
- Simultaneous release of N, P, and K: Ensures balanced nutrition throughout the crop’s development.
- Temperature-regulated nutrient delivery: Adjusts automatically to plant needs as soil temperatures change.
- Higher nutrient use efficiency (NUE): Significantly reduces nutrient losses from leaching, volatilization, P-fixation, and denitrification, minimizing waste and environmental impact.
- Lower input requirements: More efficient nutrient use means fewer applications and reduced overall fertilizer use.
- Flexible application: The strong resin coating allows for multiple application methods, including row, bed, and spot placement, as well as direct application in planting holes.
Why Choose Resin Release Technology?
ICL’s Resin Release Technology helps growers achieve high yields while supporting sustainable farming practices. By controlling nutrient availability and minimizing losses, it enhances soil health, protects water quality, and optimizes fertilizer efficiency. This makes fertilizers made with ICL’s Resin Release Technology a trusted choice for growers seeking long-lasting performance, improved profitability, and a reduced environmental footprint.

Mini coated nutrition to start your crops
Agromaster® Start Mini is a safe starter fertilizer for all seeded crops, combining ICL’s advanced coating technology with specially selected mini granules. The controlled release of N and P will keep your plants fed in their early stages, without affecting germination and emergence of young plants. With ultra-localized application, close to the seeds, Agromaster® Start Mini boosts rooting and promotes fast establishment of the plants. Coated P-based products improve the availability and uptake of phosphorus by the young root system. Meanwhile the coated nitrogen provides a gradual releases which means that stressful situations, especially in the cold season, will be avoided.
