ICL supports Finca Cortesin ahead of the 2023 Solheim Cup
ICL worked with the agronomy team at Finca Cortesin in Spain during the three years leading up to the 2023 Solheim Cup, supporting turf preparation through trials involving wetting agents, biostimulants and foliar nutrition.

Finca Cortesin hosted the Solheim Cup from 22–24 September 2023, bringing together leading women golfers from Europe and the United States.
ICL supported the golf course agronomy team during preparations for the event, building on a technical relationship that had developed over the previous three years.
Supporting course preparation
Working with the Finca Cortesin agronomy team, led by Ignacio Soto, ICL carried out field trials using products from the H2Pro, Vitalnova and Greenmaster Liquid ranges.
The work focused on understanding how different approaches to water management, biostimulants and foliar nutrition could support turf condition and playing quality under the specific conditions at the course.
Finca Cortesin uses recycled water for irrigation, making water quality and soil moisture management important considerations within the wider agronomic programme.
Trials with H2Pro wetting agents were therefore used to assess how different treatments performed in relation to the irrigation water, turf conditions and required playing standards.
Working with the volunteer greenkeeping team
ICL also supported the team of volunteer greenkeepers involved in preparing the course for the tournament.
Around 50 agronomists and greenkeepers from Spain and across Europe joined the Finca Cortesin team during the final stages of course preparation.
Ahead of the competition, ICL delivered a technical training session covering practical aspects of preparing and maintaining turf for a major golf event.
The work at Finca Cortesin demonstrated how long-term agronomic planning, field trials and technical support can contribute to preparing a golf course for the demands of an international tournament.
