Double Coating Technology for Fertilizers

DCT stands for Double Coating Technology. In fact this technology consists of a second coating on resin coated fertilizers, which is the standard coating of ICL’s control released technology. DCT technology is applied around an Osmocote® Exact granule and its purpose is to influence the moment when the granule will release its nutritional elements: instead of immediate start-up after application of the product, nutrient release is postponed for up to two months.

Revolutionary release patterns can be realized by adding more or fewer DCT granules to a product. These release patterns are the answer to challenging growing circumstances that you may face at your nursery.

Take for example the potting of container nursery stock in fall or winter. While in spring nutrient release has to start quite rapidly to match the plant’s nutrient demand, in fall-winter the nutrient release of the coated controlled-release fertilizer should be as low as possible in the initial phases after potting. This makes this operation particularly challenging. Osmocote Exact Protect consists of 100% DCT coated granules and has been created the answer to this situation.
