ICL Growing Solutions operates two specialized fertilizer production centers and a major port terminal in the southeast of Spain. These sites are dedicated to the development, formulation, and distribution of advanced plant nutrition products for agriculture, ornamental horticulture, and professional turf and amenity sectors.
Our Spanish production centers play a strategic role in ICL’s global production network.
Our facility in Totana is the largest site in the region. It houses ICL Iberia’s laboratory and R&D teams and serves as the main production hub for liquid fertilizers, including the Nutri Liquid ranges. These liquid solutions are designed for maximum nutrient availability, crop compatibility, and application efficiency.
The facility in Los Patojos, Cartagena, operating since the 1980s, is our primary site for blending, packaging, and storage of solid fertilizer products, including our controlled-release and granular fertilizers.
Innovation and sustainability are central to our operations. From increasing the use of recycled materials in our packaging to investing in driver training to improve fuel efficiency, we continually work to reduce our environmental impact. Our dedicated fleet of bulk tankers enables reliable delivery of high-performance fertilizers directly to farmers across Spain.

Together with our potash mine in Catalonia and the port terminal at Escombreras, these centers ensure we can serve the needs of professional growers across Spain and deliver high-quality fertilizers to markets around the world.
Escombreras Port Terminal
Established in 2001, our Escombreras facility in Cartagena serves as a vital logistics gateway and a strategic hub for the Mediterranean region. This terminal is specialized in the high-volume discharge of both solid and liquid vessels, primarily handling the unloading of various phosphoric acid grades (including white, green, and 4D) alongside other essential raw materials such as Nitric Acid. Our operations are fully integrated, featuring a dedicated fleet of trucks that ensures the seamless storage, sale, and distribution of these materials directly from the port to our customers.
The facility covers an expansive 14,000 m2 and is engineered for high-capacity throughput, with separate storage capabilities for 24,000 tons of liquid and 24,000 tons of solid materials. The site includes a specialized bagging unit and a filling station for truck tankers, with a dilution option. The Escombreras terminal represents a critical link in our supply chain, ensuring product integrity from the vessel to the final destination.

Totana is ICL’s leading center for NutriLiquid production, a key part of the company’s liquid fertilizer portfolio. Formulated and delivered in bulk, as well as containers and cans, these high-quality liquid fertilizers are produced in large volumes and designed to meet the nutritional needs of a wide variety of crops.

Spain is a major center for CRF blending. These customized nutrient blends are developed with precision to match crop needs and growing conditions, supporting efficient nutrient use and sustained crop health.

At the Los Patojos site, solid fertilizers are blended, packaged, palletized, and prepared for distribution. The facility handles both CRF and granular products and is strategically located for distribution by land and by sea from the nearby Escombreras port.

Sustainability is a key focus of ICL. In Spain, our initiatives include: the use of 70% recycled plastic in packaging; using bulk handling to reduce total plastic use; and the implementation of a certified zero-waste program. The facilities also collect and reuse rainwater, participate in community reforestation and beach clean-ups, and contribute to social causes. All sites follow a CO2 reduction and compensation plan, verified annually.
