The Central Role of ICL Agronomists
ICL’s global network of agronomists is vital for developing new innovative plant nutrition solutions. By collaborating with R&D teams and sharing field insights, they help create, refine, and deliver cost-effective products that maximize crop potential.
It all starts in the field, with agronomy. During a recent visit to China to meet with growers and retailers, Shay Mey-Tal, ICL VP of Marketing & Agronomy reflected on what is needed to deliver the innovative products that growers need to meet their crops’ nutritional needs.
ICL has over 500 agronomists worldwide, working with a shared goal. Their work is key in helping ICL’s R&D teams understand and address the main challenges growers face. With this insight, our researchers can identify where to focus their attention. However, the agronomist’s other essential role is communicating the right agronomic messages to the growers so their crops can meet their full potential.
Everything starts in the field with agronomy.
The effective two-way communication between growers and ICL R&D teams relies on the ICL AG Community. We built this platform to keep all our agronomists in contact with each other and our R&D teams, no matter where they are in the world.
Agronomists Working with R&D
ICL agronomists play a fundamental role in developing future generations of plant nutrition products, collaborating closely with the Research and Development teams. Developing a new product is a complex process, which may start with an agronomist identifying a grower’s unmet need. We also need to ensure that any new products are effective and that we can produce them at a price point that offers significant value to growers. We also invest significantly to ensure our products have a beneficial environmental impact.
We utilize our agronomist’s scientific expertise and agronomic knowledge to put all new products through their paces. ICL rigorously tests each new product in a series of trials to ensure they are cost-effective solutions for improving crop production.
Agronomic Validation
For every product in development, the agronomists design the trials needed to help refine it further, enhancing the characteristics that growers need to simplify product use and maximize crop productivity.
Meanwhile, our agronomists build their in-depth knowledge of the new products so they can provide the technical support growers need to identify the right product for their crops and soil conditions.
By utilizing our global network of agronomists, we can efficiently identify growers’ needs and develop the crop nutrition solutions they require. This collaboration between agronomists and R&D drives ICL’s innovations, pushing the boundaries of agricultural science to shape the future of sustainable farming.
