New qualifications strengthen ICL team
We’re proud to celebrate the achievements of two members of our ICL team, further reinforcing our commitment to technical excellence.
Congratulations to Stephen Briggs, our Technical Area Sales Manager for the South Midlands and South Wales, who has officially gained BASIS accreditation, joining the BASIS Crop Protection Register last month.
“BASIS is a rigorous certification that ensures advisors possess the latest expertise in the ever-evolving, highly technical plant protection sector,” says ICL Sales Manager, Adrian Thirtle-Watts. “Providing a high level of technical service is central to ICL’s offering. To advise growers on plant protection products, advisers must be BASIS-certified and continuously update their knowledge through CPD.”
As part of his accreditation, Stephen conducted a project evaluating Botrytis control in Primula x pubescens (Primrose). The trial, carried out at a commercial nursery in Hertfordshire, compared Vitalnova Prime biostimulant against a chemical control. The results highlighted Vitalnova Prime’s potential as an effective preventative treatment within an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy.
Meanwhile, Jason Colin, who joined our team last year as Technical Area Sales Manager for the Northern Home Counties and Wiltshire, has achieved the Certificate of Competence in Fertiliser Advice (FACTS).
“FACTS is a highly regarded voluntary certification, demonstrating expertise in crop nutrition while ensuring environmental responsibility across soil, water, air, and biodiversity,” Adrian adds.
“With Jason’s qualification, all but one of our team is now FACTS-certified, reinforcing ICL’s commitment to delivering responsible, accredited advice. Jason is already setting his sights on his next milestone – gaining BASIS accreditation.
“By continuously investing in professional development, we ensure our customers receive trusted, expert guidance, helping them meet industry standards such as BOPP accreditation and make informed, sustainable choices.”
