Insect control in turf refers to the management of insects that can damage turfgrass in lawns, sports fields, golf courses, and other turf areas. Insects such as Chafer grubs and Leatherjackets can cause extensive damage to turf, resulting in thinning, yellowing, and even death of the grass. Effective insect control in turf is essential for maintaining healthy and attractive turf, and for preventing damage that can be costly to repair.
There are several approaches to insect control in turf, including chemical, biological, and cultural methods.
When choosing an insect control approach for turf, it is important to consider factors such as the type of insect, the severity of the infestation, and the environmental impact of the chosen method. Ultimately, the best approach to insect control in turf will depend on the specific situation and the goals of the turf manager.

Full approval for Acelepryn now covers control of Chafer grubs and Leatherjackets in sports pitches, golf greens, tees and fairways, golf roughs, racecourses and gallops, bowling greens, airfields, and professional application to commercial and residential lawns, subject to specific restrictions on the percentage of the area being treated.
Chafer grubs cause extensive damage by feeding on plant roots in turf. The secondary damage is just as destructive when birds, badgers, foxes, moles and other small mammals rip up the already weakened turf in search of their protein rich larvae. Tell-tale signs of infestation include birds pecking at the grass, poor grass growth, the appearance of yellow patches and the ability to pull the turf up because there is little or no root growth. Nemasys G is made up of the beneficial nematode: Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, which able to neutralise chafer grubs when they are just larvae.
Leatherjackets (causal organism: Tipula spp.) are the larvae of crane flies, also known as daddy-longlegs. Crane flies cause no damage to plants since the adults do not feed, however the young start feeding immediately. This causes the appearance of yellow patches and the ability to pull the turf up because there is little or no root growth. Nemasys J is made up of the beneficial nematode: Steinernema feltiae, which able to neutralise the larvae.
