Developed to provide optimal nutrient levels to align with crop demand, our controlled-release fertilizers (CRF) are your key to improved yield, reduced nutrient losses and simplified fertilizer application.
For more than 50 years ICL has been a pioneering leader in developing and designing CRF solutions.
What are controlled-release fertilizers?
Typically, controlled-release fertilizers, or CRFs, are granulated fertilizers, coated with polymer, resin or other patented materials that control the release of nutrients into the soil at the right time and right rate.
Depending on the protective coating, factors like temperature and moisture can help initiate and regulate the release.
It’s a simple approach to targeted nutrition that leads to uniform growth, optimum yield and resistant plants…. maximum results with minimal effort
How does controlled release improve nutrient efficiency?
When nutrients are released in a controlled manner, they align with crop demand offering optimal nutrient uptake and utilization. This is because plants are able to take up the nutrients they need when they need them, reducing the amount of nutrients lost to the soil or atmosphere. The result? Improved crop production, reduced stress and toxicity, and improved environmental outcomes. Even just one application can decrease nutrient loss, increase nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), reduce total mineral input and save money by reducing application costs.
With ICL Growing Solutions patented CRF products, younger plants are not harmed or stressed from excess salt levels, while mature plants have enough nutrition to last until the end of the growth cycle.
Benefits of CRFs at a Glance:
- Precision nutrition to meet crop demand
- Higher nutrient efficiency
- Higher or equal yield with less mineral input
- Fewer applications means reduced costs
- Reduced leaching and nutrient loss
- Enhanced crop uniformity
- Protection against early season “salt stress”
