What is fertigation?  

Fertigation is the application of fertilizers through irrigation systems allowing for precise and efficient delivery of nutrients directly to the root zone of crops. It is widely used in US industrial agriculture, particularly in regions with extensive irrigation infrastructure such as California’s Central Valley, Arizona and parts of the Midwest. We see fertigation commonly employed across a diverse range of crops including fruits, vegetables, and row crops like corn and soybeans. Fertigation is a highly effective and flexible tool for controlling the placement and timing of nutrient application. It allows for precise nutrient delivery directly to the root zone, optimizing nutrient uptake efficiency, especially in high-value crops where maximizing yield and quality is critical.

Are there different kinds of fertigation solutions?

They are designed to enhance nutrient uptake, avoid clogging of drippers and pipes, and prevent deficiencies even at high demand stages of growth.  The most common types of fertigation we see are: 

1. Water-Soluble Fertilizers: These fertilizers dissolve easily in water and are commonly used in fertigation systems due to their compatibility with irrigation equipment. They allow for precise nutrient application and are available in various formulations tailored to specific crop needs.
