When drought management is important: H2Gro

H2Gro, ICL’s long-term wetting agent, enables growers to cultivate pot and bedding plants in a dry state without difficulties regarding rewetting.

H2Gro ensures optimal rewetting

Maintaining dry growing conditions in a cultivation presents a challenge in terms of re-hydration of the plants. In a dry environment it’s more difficult for plants to absorb water as it requires repeated watering to achieve sufficient moisture. This particularly affects the peripheral areas (plants on the edges of the substrate), making manual irrigation often an unavoidable and time-consuming task. As a result, plants tend to grow uneven which leads to additional costs, including supplementary sorting during the marketing process.

Effective with various irrigation systems

H2Gro guarantees improved water distribution when applied overhead and/or through bottom irrigation. When using H2Gro, the irrigation water is distributed both horizontally and vertically, ensuring uniform moisture throughout the substrate in the entire pot or substrate. The product promotes even root development, supports better root formation and optimizes plant nutrient uptake. Water treated with H2Gro spreads through the entire pot volume. The combination of water and nutrient supply improves growth and ensures uniform crops, even on the edges of the beds.

Regardless of the irrigation method, H2Gro ensures optimal utilization of water and nutrient supply throughout the entire pot.

Robust and vigorous plants

Well-hydrated plants can easily access nutrients, making them more vigorous, robust, and thriving compared to stressed plants. They are less susceptible to pests and diseases and exhibit better absorption and utilization of growth regulators.

Uniform substrate moisture is essential for plant protection

The spring season is a very busy time for growers. A lot of tasks need to be done simultaneously and quickly, so it is easy to miss the plants that remain dry despite irrigation. The uneven moisture levels, both in pots and in bedding plants, will lead to uneven growth and plant damage.

Preventive use of H2Gro

ICL recommends applying a penetrating watering agent (minimum 10 l/m2) directly after potting the plants, with a dosage of 1.5 ml of H2Gro per liter of water. This ensures a consistent effectiveness of the product of up to 6 months. Additional applications are generally not necessary. Improved water absorption reduces the need for repeated watering and minimizes the risk of leaching of applied fertilizers. H2Gro enables a more relaxed cultivation process and saves valuable working time.
