ICL introduces new grass cultivar to the EU market

ICL Growing Solutions is excited to introduce ProSelect Greenwave, a true tetraploid sheeps fescue, to the EU market. This turfgrass seed cultivar has recently been registered in the EU and was formerly known as Blue Hornet from our ICL’s partner breeder, Mountain View Seeds in the US.

Adapts easily to various climates

ProSelect Greenwave is a tetraploid variety, meaning it has twice as many chromosomes as a diploid cultivar, which results in increased vigor during seedling establishment. This cultivar boasts a wide genetic base, making it highly adaptable to various climatic conditions and suitable for use across the turf industry, from sports fields, golf courses to landscaping projects.

Greenwave lowers your carbon footprint

Greenwave is a low-maintenance grass variety. It’s ideal for producing durable ground cover with minimal input, making it perfect for areas like golf course roughs or natural-looking landscape projects. Additionally, Greenwave has a higher density rooting system, capable of capturing up to 200 metric tons of soil carbon per hectare within the top 100mm of the root zone profile, making it an excellent choice for those looking to establish more permanent, carbon-capture turf areas.
