Rocket Trial with Polysulphate and Agromaster
8.2
Campania, Italy 2017
8.2
Key Conclusions
Rocket yield was significantly higher right from the first yield in plots where Polysulphate and Agromaster were used, compared to the farmers’ practice.
Objective
To investigate the effect of Polysulphate and Agromaster on the yield of greenhouse grown rocket (Eruca sativa) salad.
Trial Details
Trial station
Campania, Italy
Crop
Rocket salad
Product
Granular Polysulphate
Assessments
Fresh yield, and dry matter yield
Treatments
This trial consisted of 3 treatments with 4 replicates in a randomized complete block design. The treatments were:
- Farmers’ practice: 1,500 kg/ha of organic fertilizer + 350 kg/ha of 14-7-17 NPK fertilizer.
- 1,500 kg/ha of organic fertilizer + 300 kg/ha of Agromaster 11-48 + 600 kg/ha of Polysulphate.
- 1,500 kg/ha of organic fertilizer + 400 kg/ha of Agromaster 15-24-10 + 600 kg/ha of Polysulphate
All fertilizers were applied before sowing. The crop was harvested on 8 successive dates.

Results
- The cumulative yields in the Polysulphate and Agromaster treatments were significantly higher than the farmers’ practice (+1.58 and +2.85 t/ha respectively). The differences were evident right from the 1st harvest.
- From the 3rd harvest onwards, the rocket fertilized with Polysulphate and Agromaster produced higher dry matter yield per hectare. This parameter is essential to increase the shelf life of the rocket salad after harvesting.
- The return on investment (ROI) was higher in both Polysulphate treatments when compared with the farmers’ practice: 1,630 €/ha for Polysulphate treatment (1) and 3,390 €/ha for Polysulphate treatment (2).
