There is so much to gain from joining the Young People in Horticulture Association (YPHA).   Alongside regular, fantastic in-person events – where you can meet, collaborate and make friends and contacts – we offer free Zoom webinars with inspiring speakers and industry experts.  Over recent years our visits to RHS Wisley in Surrey, the Eden Project in Cornwall and David Austin Roses in Shropshire, to name but a few, have proved highly popular and we have many more events planned.

Set up in 2020, the YPHA was founded by three friends – Mollie Higginson, Natalie Porter and Liam Cleary – united in their concern at the lack of representation of young people in the industry.

Over 900 members

YPHA aims to unite the scattering of under 35’s working in UK horticulture, to better facilitate collaboration, education and innovation. We aim to paint a better image of horticulture and emphasise why it is a wonderful industry to work in. Open to anyone aged 18 to 35, current membership stands at 930+ with representation across the breadth of the UK industry.

The YPHA committee is made up of ten, dedicated volunteers from many sectors including retail, plant production, landscaping, social media and recruitment. With such robust and varied representation, we aim to appeal to as many sectors as possible and meet regularly, via video calls, to discuss future events, our involvement in many industry projects and to check in with each other.

YPHA ambassadors

As volunteers running an association for the first time, we are incredibly grateful for the support of our YPHA ambassadors; Boyd Douglas-Davies, Pippa Greenwood, Michael Perry and Jane Lawler – their experience and time has proved invaluable.

A truly collaborative effort, the YPHA certainly could not operate without the help of our key sponsors.  ICL was one of the first to offer its support and has provided all our welcome packs – featuring printed t-shirts, branded pens and mugs – as well as covered the costs of promotional leaflets and provided welcome input regarding our merchandising.
