Gronamic 6-2-4 delivers at Prestbury Golf Club
At Prestbury Golf Club, Course Manager Mark Crossley was searching for a fertiliser that could deliver subtle, sustained turf growth — particularly during the critical periods of spring recovery and post-renovation support.
Subtle, sustained growth without excess
Following a spring trial, Gronamic Golf 6-2-4 provided exactly the turf response Mark was aiming for: controlled, natural growth without any excessive flush.
The product’s balanced NPK ratio and organic nitrogen content were key in supporting Prestbury’s nutritional programme and encouraging long-term turf resilience.
Since then, the 6-2-4 formulation has become a core part of the club’s fertiliser strategy. Its low nitrogen feed supports prolonged, steady growth, while its fast breakdown and six-week longevity align perfectly with seasonal maintenance plans.
Mark also applies it as a turf bed fertiliser ahead of laying turf, where it helps ensure quick and consistent establishment.
Consistent colour and recovery — without iron
One of the standout benefits has been the subtle green-up effect achieved without the use of iron. “You get a natural, healthy colour without that artificial finish iron can sometimes cause,” Mark explains. Even during periods of environmental and cultural stress — from fluctuating temperatures to heavy renovation works — the turf consistently responds with improved health and recovery.
Sustainable ingredients that make a difference
Mark attributes a significant part of this resilience to the inclusion of SMX, polyhalite, and struvite within the formulation. These components not only support turf through difficult conditions but also contribute to sustainability by utilising recycled, low carbon footprint nutrients alongside a proven turf biostimulant.
Turf recovery following maintenance is typically visible within 5–7 days.

Compared with other organo-mineral products Mark has used, Gronamic offers a quicker breakdown, a faster visual response, and minimal risk — if any — of granule pickup by mowing equipment.
A responsible, reliable fertiliser choice
Cost-effectiveness and environmental responsibility were also major factors in the decision. “As a club and as a department, we’re very mindful of our environmental impact,” says Mark.
“If we can achieve the performance we need in a more responsible way, that’s absolutely the route we’ll take. We get great feedback from members and visitors, and it’s great to know we are receiving this feedback using a responsible product to achieve that.”
His verdict on Gronamic is simple.
“If it didn’t perform, we wouldn’t use it, and so the fact that it’s become our ‘go-to’ fertiliser at particular times of the year tells its own story.”
With consistent results, strong environmental credentials, and seamless integration into Prestbury’s turf management programme, Gronamic Golf 6-2-4 continues to prove its value across the course.
