Treatments
The trial was conducted in Weihenstephan, Germany using a peat‑based substrate to evaluate the effect of H2Gro ED on water absorption and re‑wetting behaviour.
H2Gro ED was incorporated into the substrate at a rate of 150 ml/m³, while an untreated peat substrate served as the control. After initial saturation, the substrate was subjected to repeated irrigation cycles, and the volume of water absorbed was measured from the second through the eleventh wetting‑up. This setup allowed assessment of how consistently the treated substrate could take up water during repeated re‑wetting events, reflecting practical irrigation conditions in commercial horticulture.
