In a bid to further enhance their knowledge and understanding of avocado farming, a group of customers from France embarked on a recent visit to avocado farms on the east coast of Spain. The trip was designed to offer an insight into the world of avocados as they consider its potential for growers in the South of France. Accompanied by ICL agronomists Leandro Martinez and Francisco Morell, the visit was a success for all parties.

Unveiling the Secrets of Avocado Farming

As they embarked on a guided tour of the Spanish avocado farm, Leandro Martinez and Francisco Morell discussed with their guests the intricacies of avocado cultivation, from the initial planting stages to the meticulous care and attention required throughout the crop’s growth cycle. There was plenty to discuss, including the optimal soil conditions, the water, temperature, and sun requirements, and the role of high-quality fertilizers in nurturing these fruit-bearing trees.

Exploring Potential in the South of France

The climate in the South of France shares some similarities with the east coast of Spain, making it a promising prospect for avocado cultivation. Francisco Morell summed up the visit concisely:

“Sharing experiences helps us to expand our understanding of how and why we do what we do.”

Such visits provide productive opportunities to share information and learn from each other. They demonstrate the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing within agriculture, reinforcing the belief that fostering partnerships and engaging in cross-border dialogues enhances our practices and contributes to sustainable and fruitful agriculture.
