NemaTrident B contains a naturally occurring beneficial entomopathogenic nematode, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora formulated in a wettable powder, enclosed in a non-water-soluble pack. NemaTrident B is safe and sustainable, providing highly effective control of larvae when they come into direct contact with the target pest. Small larvae (early stages) are most susceptible. To enhance the movement of NemaTrident B and the targeting of larvae at application, it is recommended to always use it in conjunction with NemaSpreader. The unique dual component system ensures maximum dispersal of infective juvenile nematodes within the soil which then go in search of larvae to penetrate and kill.
-
Pack sizes: 250 million and 500 million
-
Nematode species: Heterorhabditis bacteriophora
-
Target pest: Welsh chafer, cockchafer, Garden chafer, Summer chafer
-
Minimum soil temperature: 12°C for 3 – 6 hours per day
Chafer grubs are the soil borne larval stages of chafer beetles. Adult chafer beetles emerge from May onwards, depending on the species, season and weather patterns. Egg laying begins 2-3 weeks after emergence, and larvae hatch 3-4 weeks later.
NemaTrident B should be applied from July to September to target emerged larvae. Best results will be achieved when applied during periods of prolonged soil moisture and when applied to smaller larvae. Note that some chafer species have life cycles that last up to 3 years, with mixed populations of large and small larvae present at any one time. Where high numbers of larvae are present applications over several seasons could be required to manage populations.
Apply 5 billion nematodes per ha.

Soil temperatures need to be 12˚C or above for 3-6 hours per day for the nematodes in NemaTrident B to be active. Soil moisture is also required for the nematodes to move freely and for larvae to be active close to the surface. NemaSpreader is an essential partner to maintain optimum soil conditions for NemaTrident B activity.
Getting the best results
- NemaTrident B should be applied to moist soil
- Apply in 500-1000 litres of water per hectare
- Clean spray equipment and spray tank before use
- Remove all in line filters, nozzle filters and sieves which could block nematodes
- Use nozzles with at least 0.8mm diameter
- Apply early morning or in the evening when light levels are low
- For turf use apply with 5 litres of NemaSpreader per hectare
- Irrigate NemaTrident B in immediately after application but do not saturate the soil (use 1-2 litres of water per sq m)
- Soil should be kept moist for 14 days after application
Soil temperatures should be 12˚C or above for 3-6 hours per day.
Syngenta XC 08 nozzles can be used to apply NemaTrident F. For other nozzles check the orifice is greater than 0.8mm diameter
Compatibility
Do not apply in tank-mix with fertilisers. Application of fertilisers prior to or after NemaTrident B is safe. NemaTrident B is compatible with most pesticides and biostimulants, however a few do have a negative impact; check the Syngenta website or with your local advisor for detailed information.
When products are not compatible, or you are unsure, apply the product 3 days before or 14 days after application of NemaTrident B.
