High-quality perennial ryegrass with strong Gray Leaf Spot resistance

ProSelect Slugger 3GL is a perennial ryegrass straight comprising 100% Slugger 3GL, a cultivar selected for strong Gray Leaf Spot resistance, turf quality and reliable performance under wear.

In NTEP testing, Slugger 3GL recorded a Gray Leaf Spot resistance rating of 8.7, alongside strong turf quality, dark genetic color and good performance under traffic stress.

It also showed strong spring green-up, making it well suited to high-quality managed turf where appearance, wear tolerance and disease performance are important.

  • High turf quality – strong performance under two NTEP management schedules
  • Good wear performance – suitable for intensively used turf
  • Dark genetic color – supports an attractive turf appearance
  • Strong spring green-up – good early-season performance

  • Sports turf, residential and commercial turf: 30–35 g/m², typically in early autumn or late spring
  • Overseeding dormant Bermuda grass: 40–60 g/m²

 

Use the higher end of the recommended rate range for applications in late autumn, winter or early spring.

Keep the seedbed moist during germination and establishment. Under optimal soil temperatures, germination typically occurs within 5-8 days, extending to 21-28 days in cooler conditions. Full coverage can be expected within 6-8 weeks.

Begin mowing when the turf reaches approximately 4 cm in height. Maintain a mowing height of 1-4 cm.

For best results, apply 20-25 g/m² of nitrogen annually. Use deep, infrequent irrigation during cooler periods, increasing frequency during summer as required. Reduce irrigation in spring to support transition.
