Polysulphate: from UK Mine direct to Italian Fields
In Italy, we have simplified the process of getting Polysulphate from the mine directly to the field, helping retain Polysulphate’s remarkably low carbon footprint.
Sustainability is a core commitment at ICL, and we are always looking for ways to help make agriculture increasingly sustainable. In Italy, the ICL team has been implementing ways to maximize the sustainability of our Polysulphate® fertilizers.
Polysulphate is ICL’s multi-nutrient fertilizer, created from polyhalite, the natural mineral that ICL mines 1,200 meters below the North Sea, a short distance off the coast of the UK.
Polysulphate is a natural fertilizer containing four essential nutrients: sulfur (S), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), and calcium (Ca), all in sulfate form. But Polysulphate’s four-in-one nutrient combination is not its only stand-out feature. It also has an exceptionally low carbon footprint, significantly lower than comparable products, at just 0.0029 kg CO2 equivalent per kg of product.
In order to decrease delivery times, reduce packaging to dispose of, and lower emissions, customers in Italy can collect Polysulphate directly from our warehouse and take it straight to the field for application. This is just one example of our continued commitment to sustainable agriculture in Italy.
