Greenwave
ProSelect Greenwave is a tetraploid sheep’s fescue (Festuca ovina) developed for low-input turf, naturalised areas and sites where growing conditions can be challenging.
Greenwave combines rapid germination and establishment with slow subsequent growth, helping to produce a dense sward with relatively low maintenance requirements.
It has good adaptation to heat and marginal soils, together with good summer and drought persistence. Greenwave can also be used in shaded areas and can be sown as a straight cultivar or incorporated into mixtures with other fine fescue species.
Greenwave is A-LIST Approved (appears as Blue Hornet), meaning it has met defined performance standards in independent trials under lower-input conditions, including reduced water, fertilizer and pesticide use.

Sheeps Fescue, is a versatile species, grows very slowly and whilst it can tolerate lowered mowing heights, it thrives best under more relaxed mowing regimes to meet low maintenance requirements, for which Sheeps fescue is most suited to. Under minimal mowing, removing no more than 1/3 of the sward height at each cut. As a minimum, fertilise annually with 45-80kg of nitrogen per hectare in a balanced formulation.
For new turf, sow at 20 – 30 g/m2 (200 – 300 kg/ha). If seeding naturalized or ornamental areas, use 10 g/ m2 (100 kg/ha). Greenwave will germinate in around 7-12 days, and mowing can begin 2-4 weeks from blade emergence.
