Test of Nova PekAcid with Banana in Clay Soil
63%
Increase in calcium (Ca) availability
Nova PekAcid® increased calcium availability and soil solution pH in banana cultivation in Tabasco, Mexico.
Teapa, Tabasco, Mexico
63%
Increase in calcium (Ca) availability
Key Conclusions
- The application of Nova PekAcid increased the solubility and availability of Calcium in the soil; the witness obtained a concentration of 83 ppm of soluble Calcium in the soil solution; while with Nova PekAcid it increased to 130 ppm of soluble and available Calcium in the soil solution.
- Nova PekAcid also had a notable effect on lowering the pH of the soil solution; with the control the pH value was 8.5 and with the application of Nova PekAcid it was 7.5.
- These results prove the efficiency of Nova PekAcid in increasing the availability of nutrients in soil , in addition, its effect to improve pH, this in turn increases the availability of all nutrients in the soil solution.
Objective
- Evaluate the effect of Nova PekAcid in improving the availability of calcium in soil solution.
- Determine the effect of Nova PekAcid on the pH of the soil solution.

Treatments
- Five soil subsamples were collected on the 1-ha plot and mixed homogeneously to obtain a sample.
- The obtained sample was divided into two subsamples, each of which was treated as a treatment.
- Nova PekAcid was applied to a subsample at a dose of 1 g/L of water.
| Treatments | Soil Sample | Dose |
|---|---|---|
| Nova PeKacid | Sector 10 | 1 g/L of water |
| Control | Sector 10 | 0 g/L |
